UW Nurse Camp
University of Washington School of Nursing
A free week-long day camp broadening access to nursing for diverse Washington high school students, with nurse shadowing, CPR/clinical training, simulation labs, and mentorship from nursing students.
Who should apply
A great fit for Washington-state high school sophomores and juniors interested in nursing, from all backgrounds — including students who'd be the first in their family to attend college.
Eligibility
- Washington-state high school sophomores and juniors
- At least 16 before the first day of camp (no exceptions)
- Washington-state residents
- Welcomes all backgrounds; aims to increase access and diversity in nursing (~50% of campers plan to be first in their family to attend college)
What you get
- Free one-week camp (July 20–24, 2026)
- Hospital shadowing at two UW Medical Centers
- CPR and HIPAA training
- Skills training (blood pressure, vitals, infection control)
- Simulation lab experiences
- Nursing 'speed rounds' with practicing nurses and mentoring from UW nursing students
- Meals provided during camp

Application tips

- If you'd be first in your family to attend college, it's worth sharing — the camp emphasizes access for first-generation students.
Good to know
Free, but participants cover housing, transportation to/from the Seattle campus, and meals outside camp hours. 2026 is closed; 2027 applications open February 15, 2027.
