A mentored, original biomedical research experience for Long Island high school seniors at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, concluding with oral research presentations. Admission is need-blind.

A great fit for academically talented Long Island high school students entering senior year who want authentic, mentored laboratory research at a world-leading institution.
Eligibility
- High school students entering their senior year
- Nominated by their school science chairperson (each school may nominate up to two juniors annually)
- Long Island regional focus
What you get
- Original research mentored by a CSHL scientist
- Hands-on exposure to daily life in a working research lab
- An oral presentation of your research project at the program's conclusion
What the application involves
- Nomination by the school science chairperson
- Essay
- Interview by Laboratory scientists for selected semi-finalists

- Talk with your school science chairperson early to secure a nomination — nominations are limited per school.
- Prepare to discuss your research interests clearly for the scientist interview.
Good to know
Time commitment is a minimum of 10 hours/week, September through March of senior year. Admission is need-blind with travel stipends for those who need them.
