Garcia Summer Research Program

An intensive seven-week summer program combining formal instruction with independent, mentored research in polymer and materials science; students design original projects and may continue year-round.
Who should apply
A fit for motivated high school students (and undergraduates/teachers) interested in interdisciplinary research in polymers and materials science, aiming to produce conference-level research. Note: this program charges a lab fee.
Eligibility
- High school applicants welcome
- At least 16 years old on or before July 4, 2026 (no exceptions) due to lab safety rules
- Unweighted GPA of 95/100 (3.8/4.0)
- Standardized test scores (PSAT/SAT/ACT/AP/IB/Regents) at least the 60th percentile
- Completed at least 3 of: English, Chemistry, Math/Calculus, Physics, Biology (Honors or AP/IB a plus)
- International students may apply if already legally present in the U.S.; the program can't support visa applications
